Pustevny

Pustevny is a popular mountain ridge and tourist destination located in the Vysočina and Moravian-Silesian regions of the Czech Republic. Situated within the Radhošť Mountains, part of the Western Carpathians, Pustevny is renowned for its scenic landscapes, outdoor recreational activities, and unique wooden architecture.

The ridge is particularly notable for its collection of traditional folk buildings, called Libušín and Maměnka, designed by the acclaimed Czech architect Dušan Jurkovič in the early 20th century. These structures exemplify Moravian Wallachian folk architecture, characterized by intricate woodwork, vibrant colors, and ornate carvings. In 2014, the Libušín building was restored after a fire, preserving its cultural and architectural significance.

Pustevny serves as a hub for tourism, offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. It functions as a base for hiking, skiing, and cross-country skiing, with numerous trails connecting to nearby peaks such as Radhošť and Smrk. The area is also home to the sacred Radhošť Mountain, where a historic pilgrimage church and a statue of the Slovak hero Ľudovít Štúr are situated.

Transportation to Pustevny is facilitated by a cable car system that connects it with the town of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, making access easier for visitors. The site attracts numerous visitors throughout the year, especially during the winter sports season and summer hiking months.
