Pupilien is a fictional coastal city-state that serves as the political and economic center of the Pupilian Islands in the archipelago of Lyria. Located around a natural harbor, the city functions as a regional hub for maritime trade, culture, and education. Its streets blend medieval stone neighborhoods with modern districts, while surrounding hinterlands support agriculture, fishing, and light industry. The climate is temperate, with dry summers and mild, wet winters.

The name Pupilien is traditionally linked to the legendary founder Pupilo, though scholars note variations in early sources. Residents are called Pupilians, and the local language is Pupilian, with several dialects spoken across the isles.

Historically, the settlement began as a trading outpost in the early medieval era and grew through sea trade and craftsmanship.
