Punchmarks are small, distinct marks created by striking a surface with a pointed or shaped tool. They are often found on historical artifacts, particularly coins, where they served as a form of authentication or indication of value. In ancient India, punch-marked coins were a common currency, featuring symbols like animals, plants, or geometric shapes punched into metal blanks.
