PulD, short for "Pulse Detection," is a term primarily associated with the Pulse Detection game mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, released in 2020. This mode is a cooperative, objective-based gameplay experience designed for two players working together to complete a series of missions. Unlike traditional multiplayer modes, PulD emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and communication rather than competitive head-to-head combat.

In PulD, players take on the roles of two operatives—one as a "Pulse Operator" and the other as a "Detective"—each with distinct abilities. The Pulse Operator can use a device called the "Pulse Scanner" to detect enemy movements, while the Detective relies on stealth and tactical maneuvers to eliminate threats. Missions involve navigating through various environments, completing objectives such as rescuing hostages, disabling explosives, or retrieving intel, all while avoiding or outsmarting AI-controlled enemies.

The mode was introduced as part of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's expansion, Black Ops Cold War: Year One, and was later expanded with additional maps and missions. PulD was praised for its unique gameplay mechanics and cooperative nature, offering a refreshing alternative to traditional shooter modes. However, it was ultimately discontinued after its initial release, with no further updates or new content added.

PulD’s design influenced later cooperative modes in Call of Duty, including Warzone’s Squad Control and Black Ops Cold War’s Squad Strike. While it did not achieve long-term success, it remains notable as an experimental attempt to blend storytelling, teamwork, and tactical gameplay in the Call of Duty franchise.
