Puitplaatide, meaning "wood panels" in Estonian, refers to a category of building and finishing materials made from wood. These panels are commonly used in construction for various applications, including wall cladding, flooring, and decorative elements. One common type of puitplaatide is plywood, which is constructed from thin layers of wood veneer glued together with their grain layers rotated at right angles. This cross-graining provides strength and stability. Another type is particleboard, made from wood particles, such as wood chips, shavings, or sawdust, bonded together with resin or another binder. Fibreboard, including medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and high-density fibreboard (HDF), is produced by breaking down wood into wood fibres, then combining them with wax and a resin binder under high temperature and pressure.
