Programvareklokke is a Norwegian term that translates to "software clock" in English. It refers to a clock that is implemented and managed by computer software rather than a dedicated hardware component. In most modern computing systems, the primary timekeeping function is handled by a hardware clock, often a Real-Time Clock (RTC), which keeps track of time even when the computer is powered off. However, the operating system and various applications then interact with this hardware clock and often maintain their own software representations of time.
