The term combines process with grafar, a neologism derived from graph and visualization, and is used in discussions of process mining and workflow analytics to describe a class of graph-oriented process visualizations. Unlike static diagrams, processgrafars emphasize the temporal sequence of events and the probabilistic or weighted nature of transitions.

In a processgrafar, nodes often stand for discrete activities, states, or decision points, while edges encode transitions between them. Weights may reflect frequency, average duration, lead time, or cost. The layout can be layered by time or by process stage, enabling identification of bottlenecks, parallelism, or loops. Graph attributes, such as edge thickness, color, or opacity, convey quantitative aspects; interactive features support zooming, filtering, and trajectory tracing.

Construction methodology: collect event logs from process-aware information systems, align occurrences to a reference model, construct a directed graph from observed transitions, prune infrequent paths, and apply conformance checks. Techniques from graph theory, clustering, and sequence mining support pattern discovery and anomaly detection.
