Ingredients and method: Traditional pretzel dough is typically made from wheat flour, water, yeast, and salt, with malt or sugar added in some recipes. After shaping, pretzels are briefly boiled in a baking soda or lye solution before baking, which gives a glossy crust and mahogany color.
