Porzellans

Porzellans is a term used to refer to porcelain objects in some languages and contexts. It may appear as the plural form in non-English texts, though standard English usage typically treats porcelain as a mass noun. The term is more commonly encountered in Germanic-language sources where it may appear as a nonstandard plural in historical texts or regional dialects.

Porcelain is a ceramic material made by firing a refined mixture of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz at high temperatures, typically around 1200 to 1400°C. The finished product is a hard, white, translucent body that takes glaze well.

Major historic centers include Meissen, Sèvres, and Jingdezhen, with modern production expanding through Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Environmental and supply-chain considerations accompany ongoing production, as with other ceramic industries.

Culturally, porcelain has been associated with luxury and technological achievement. Marks and dating on porcelain objects aid in identifying origin and age, contributing to collecting and scholarship.
