Sèvres

Sèvres is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris, France. It is located in the department of Hauts-de-Seine in the Île-de-France region, on the left bank of the Seine and part of the greater Paris metropolitan area.

The town is best known for the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, the state porcelain factory established in 1740 under royal patronage by Louis XV. For centuries it produced porcelain for the court and European markets, helping shape the town’s development. Today the factory site forms part of the Cité de la Céramique, a cultural complex that includes the national ceramic museum (Musée national de Céramique) and workshops open to visitors, reflecting the enduring ceramic tradition.
