Polyterpeen
Polyterpeen (also spelled polyterpene) denotes a class of polymers produced by the polymerization of terpene monomers, a family of hydrocarbon compounds commonly found in essential oils and plant resins. Typical monomers include isoprene, myrcene, limonene and pinene; the resulting materials range from elastomeric to thermoplastic depending on monomer identity, polymer architecture and degree of crosslinking.
Synthesis methods include free-radical, cationic and coordination polymerizations, as well as controlled/living techniques and ring-opening metathesis
Physical properties of polyterpeens vary: some are soft, tacky resins used for adhesion and tack modification,
Interest in polyterpeens has grown because terpenes are renewable, plant-derived feedstocks. Potential applications span adhesives, coatings,
