It is not a single formal discipline, but a descriptive label applied in physics, engineering, and social sciences to characterize arrangements that rely on polar structure or bipolar relations.

In physics and engineering, polarisystemer describe configurations with two dominant poles that interact, such as dipole-like arrangements.
