Plasmapereesiin

Plasmapereesiin, also known as plasma cutting, is a thermal cutting process that uses a high-velocity jet of ionized gas, called plasma, to cut through electrically conductive materials such as steel, aluminum, brass, and copper. The plasma is generated by passing an electric current through a gas, typically compressed air, argon, nitrogen, or a mixture of these, which is forced out of a nozzle at high speed. The intense heat produced by the plasma (up to 20,000°C or 36,000°F) melts the material, while the high-velocity gas blows the molten metal away, creating a clean cut.

The process was developed in the mid-20th century and has since become widely used in industrial manufacturing, construction, and metal fabrication due to its efficiency and precision. Plasmapereesiin offers several advantages over traditional cutting methods like oxy-fuel cutting, including faster cutting speeds, narrower kerf widths (the width of the cut), and the ability to cut thicker materials with less distortion. It is also more versatile, as it can cut a variety of metals without requiring preheating.

Plasma cutters are controlled by either manual or automated systems. Manual plasma cutters are handheld tools operated by a user, often used for on-site cutting or repairs. Automated plasma cutting systems, such as those integrated into CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, provide high precision and repeatability for mass production. Safety measures, including proper ventilation, protective gear, and insulation, are essential due to the high temperatures and ultraviolet radiation produced during the process.

Plasmapereesiin is commonly used in applications ranging from automotive and aerospace manufacturing to artistic metalwork and scrap metal recycling. Advances in technology have improved the efficiency and control of plasma cutting, making it a staple in modern metalworking industries.
