Pintanopeus is a genus of small, ground-dwelling beetles belonging to the family Carabidae, commonly known as ground beetles. The name *Pintanopeus* derives from the Greek words *pintanos*, meaning "small," and *opeus*, meaning "shield," referencing their compact, shield-like body shape. This genus is primarily found in the Palearctic region, with most species distributed across Europe and parts of Asia.

Members of the *Pintanopeus* genus are typically less than 10 millimeters in length, exhibiting a slender, elongated body with a metallic sheen, often in shades of green, blue, or copper. Their elytra (wing covers) are usually smooth and glossy, contributing to their distinctive appearance. These beetles are nocturnal, spending the day concealed in leaf litter, under rocks, or in soil crevices, and emerging at night to forage for prey.

The diet of *Pintanopeus* species consists mainly of small invertebrates, including insects, mites, and other arthropods.
