Phyllotis

Phyllotis is a genus of South American rodents belonging to the family Cricetidae, which also includes hamsters, voles, and lemmings. These rodents are commonly known as leaf-eared mice. They are distributed throughout the Andes Mountains, from Venezuela and Colombia down to Chile and Argentina.

Leaf-eared mice are characterized by their relatively large ears, which are a distinguishing feature of the genus. Their fur coloration typically ranges from grayish-brown to reddish-brown on the dorsal side, with lighter, often white, undersides. They are generally small to medium-sized rodents, with body lengths typically ranging from 8 to 15 centimeters, excluding their tails.
