Phaeosperma
Phaeosperma is a genus of fungi belonging to the order Sclerodermatales. These fungi are commonly known as false truffles due to their morphological similarities to true truffles. Phaeosperma species are typically found in terrestrial habitats, often associated with ectomycorrhizal associations with trees. Their fruiting bodies, or sporocarps, are generally subterranean or partially exposed, and vary in size and shape depending on the species. The internal structure of the sporocarp typically consists of a peridium, or outer skin, and a gleba, which contains the spore-producing tissues.
The spores of Phaeosperma are notable for their dark coloration and often spiny or reticulate ornamentation.
