Pediatrická (often referred to as pediatric care in English) is a specialized branch of medicine focused on the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth through young adulthood. The term originates from the Greek words *paidos* (child) and *iatros* (healer), reflecting its core purpose of addressing the unique health needs of younger patients.

Pediatricians are medical doctors who complete additional training after earning their MD or DO degrees, allowing them to diagnose, treat, and manage illnesses, injuries, and developmental concerns specific to children. Their expertise spans a wide range of conditions, including common childhood illnesses like colds, flu, and ear infections, as well as more complex issues such as congenital disorders, asthma, diabetes, and behavioral or developmental delays.
