Passíusálmar

Passíusálmar, commonly translated as Passion Psalms or Psalms of the Passion, refers to a collection of 15 poems by the Icelandic poet Hallgrímur Pétursson. Composed in the 17th century, these deeply devotional works focus on the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Pétursson's poems are renowned for their profound theological insight, vivid imagery, and emotional intensity, exploring the theological significance of Christ's sacrifice and its impact on humanity.

The Passíusálmar were initially published in 1659 and quickly gained immense popularity throughout Iceland.
