Treatment depends on the type and characteristics of the cyst. Small, low-risk cysts may require only periodic monitoring through imaging. High-risk or symptomatic cysts may necessitate surgical intervention, such as cyst resection or pancreatic duct drainage procedures. Genetic counseling and screening may be recommended for individuals with a family history of pancreatic cysts or related conditions, such as hereditary pancreatitis or familial atypical multiple mole melanoma (FAMMM) syndrome.

Early detection and management are essential, as some pancreatic cysts can progress to pancreatic cancer, a highly aggressive disease.
