Panglao

Panglao is a municipality and island in the province of Bohol, Philippines. Located on the western side of Bohol, it lies across a channel from Tagbilaran City. The island is a major tourist destination, known for its beaches, clear waters and marine biodiversity. The municipality includes Panglao town and several barangays on the island.

The island's coastline features white-sand beaches, notably Alona Beach, which is a focal point for tourism with resorts, restaurants and water activities. Other popular sites include Hinagdanan Cave, Balicasag Island, and Virgin Island, which are known for snorkeling and diving. The surrounding waters host coral reefs and marine life, making it a popular spot for scuba diving.

Tourism and fishing form the core of Panglao's economy. The island is served by the Bohol-Panglao International Airport, located within Panglao, and is connected to the mainland by road and ferry services from Tagbilaran City. Visitors access many sites by boat or day tours.

Panglao is subdivided into barangays and has a local government headed by a mayor and council. The island's development has raised concerns around environmental management, particularly regarding coastal development, waste, and reef protection.
