Paletowe

Paletowe is a Polish adjective used to describe things related to pallets, the flat transport platforms used to assemble, stabilize, and move goods in unit loads. In logistics and warehousing, paletowe refers to packaging, handling, and systems designed for palletized cargo, as opposed to loose shipments.

Paletowe goods are packaged on pallets and secured with stretch wrap or strapping to form a unit load. This approach facilitates mechanized handling by forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems, enabling efficient loading, unloading, and storage. Palletizing reduces damage, improves stability, and can increase storage density in racking systems.

Common pallet types include wooden pallets (traditionally pine or spruce; often heat-treated to comply with ISPM 15), plastic pallets (HDPE or PP, moisture-resistant and reusable), and metal pallets (steel or aluminum for heavy or specialized loads). The most widely used standard in Europe is the EUR or EPAL pallet, sized at 1200 by 800 millimeters, with a typical height around 144 millimeters. EPAL-certified pallets meet defined tolerances and quality requirements to ensure interchangeability across supply chains.

In practice, paletowe considerations touch packaging design (unit load stability, corner protection), pallet sizing and compatibility with storage equipment, and logistics planning (loading plans, pallet flow, and inventory control). Environmental aspects include reuse, refurbishment, and recycling of pallets, as well as choosing sustainable materials and end-of-life management.
