Palasos is a fictional coastal town on the island of Asteria in the country of Thalasia. It lies on a sheltered bay on the island’s northern coast, with hills to the south. The town covers about 14 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 9,400 in 2022.

History: Founded in the 9th century as a trading outpost, Palasos developed around its harbor. The Palasos Fortress was completed in the 12th century and remains a defining feature. It passed through various rulers before joining the modern state of Thalasia in the 19th century.

Economy and infrastructure: The economy centers on fishing, seafood processing, olive oil production, and tourism. A small marina serves local vessels and ferries to nearby islands. Palasos is connected by regional roads to larger towns; there is no rail link.

Geography and climate: The town sits in a mild coastal climate, with dry summers and wet winters. The terrain includes rocky shores, olive groves to the hinterland, and pine-covered hills inland.

Culture and demographics: The community maintains maritime traditions through a harbor festival each summer. The local language Palasoan is spoken alongside the national language. The built environment features stone houses and the fortress.
