PVChaltig

PVChaltig is an open-source software framework designed to enable secure, privacy-preserving communications and data exchange. It provides a modular architecture that supports end-to-end encryption, minimized metadata, and cross-platform clients, making it suitable for personal messaging, collaborative workspaces, and research deployments.

The core engine manages session state, routing policies, and plugin coordination. A published plugin API allows developers to add transport backends (such as peer-to-peer networks or traditional servers) and storage backends, while a cryptography module handles key management, device authentication, and forward secrecy.

Privacy and security are central design goals. PVChaltig uses message-level encryption, optional anonymity features, and metadata minimization to reduce leakage. It also supports auditable cryptographic primitives and configurable policy controls, enabling organizations to balance usability with risk management.

The project is community-driven and open source, with licensing commonly described as permissive (for example, MIT or Apache 2.0). Development occurs in public repositories with a rotating group of maintainers and a documented process for proposing features, reporting issues, and reviewing changes.

PVChaltig has seen adoption in privacy-focused communities and academic demonstrations, where its modular design is valued for experimentation with different transport layers and cryptographic schemes.
