Ladder Logic, for instance, visually resembles electrical relay circuits and is widely adopted due to its ease of understanding for electricians. Structured Text, on the other hand, is a high-level text-based language similar to Pascal or C.

The development process typically involves writing the program in a dedicated software environment provided by the PLC manufacturer. This software allows engineers to design, edit, debug, and download the program to the PLC hardware. Debugging is a crucial phase, ensuring the program functions as intended and avoids errors that could lead to equipment malfunction or safety hazards. PLC programming requires a strong understanding of control systems, electrical principles, and the specific application being automated.
