PINGG

PINGG, standing for Protocol for Integrated Network Graphs and Governance, is a proposed open-standard framework designed to enable scalable, privacy-preserving analytics and governance of interconnected networks through graph-based representations. It aims to standardize how network elements, relationships, and policies are modeled, observed, and governed across diverse domains such as internet routing, content delivery, and the Internet of Things.

PINGG defines a layered architecture with a core protocol for message exchange and consensus, a graph data layer that models nodes and links with attributes, a privacy and consent layer that controls data sharing, and a governance layer that encodes policy enforcement via verifiable rules. The design emphasizes interoperability through standardized graph schemas and a portable query interface. Security features include cryptographic proofs of data provenance, end-to-end encryption, and selective disclosure.

Use cases include dynamic routing optimization, anomaly detection, policy compliance auditing, research into network topologies, and cross-domain collaboration between operators and researchers. The framework supports plug-in adapters for different environments and aims to facilitate transparent governance without sacrificing performance or privacy.

Development and status: PINGG was proposed in 2024 by the Global Internet Standards Assembly (GISA) and is being developed through an international collaboration of universities, industry partners, and standards bodies. A reference implementation and test suites were released in 2025, with pilot deployments in several research networks and operator trials. A standards-track process is ongoing to formalize the specification and ensure interoperability across vendors and open-source projects.
