PDCAhringrás, often referred to as the Deming Cycle or Plan-Do-Check-Act, is an iterative four-step management method used for the control and continuous improvement of processes and products. Developed by Walter Shewhart and popularized by W. Edwards Deming, it is a fundamental tool in quality management and business process improvement.

The first step, Plan, involves identifying a problem or opportunity for improvement, analyzing the current situation, and developing a plan to address it. This includes setting objectives, defining the scope of the change, and outlining the steps necessary for implementation.

The second step, Do, is the execution of the plan. This typically involves implementing the changes on a small scale or in a pilot program, collecting data on the results, and documenting any unforeseen issues or deviations from the plan.

The third step, Check, is the evaluation of the results. The data collected during the Do phase is analyzed to determine if the implemented changes have achieved the desired outcomes and met the initial objectives. This step also involves comparing the results to the planned expectations.

The final step, Act, is the standardization or adjustment based on the findings of the Check phase. If the changes were successful, they are standardized and implemented more broadly. If the changes did not yield the desired results, the plan is revised, and the cycle begins again. PDCAhringrás emphasizes continuous improvement and learning, encouraging organizations to constantly seek ways to enhance their processes and outcomes.
