PCRtestit
PCRtestit refers to polymerase chain reaction tests designed to detect genetic material from pathogens in clinical and research settings. PCR tests amplify targeted DNA or RNA sequences through repeated thermal cycles, using primers, nucleotides, and a DNA polymerase enzyme, with detection either in real time (real-time PCR) or at the end of the reaction (endpoint PCR). When starting from RNA, reverse transcription is used, yielding RT-PCR or RT-qPCR assays. PCRtestit are widely used for diagnostic purposes, research, and public health surveillance.
Applications include detection of infectious diseases such as SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and other viral pathogens; bacterial markers;
Performance depends on assay design, sample quality, and controls. Key metrics include sensitivity, specificity, and the
Workflow generally comprises specimen collection, nucleic acid extraction, amplification, detection, and result interpretation, followed by reporting
