PCIegeneration
PCIe generation refers to the successive iterations of the Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) interface standard. Each new generation significantly increases the bandwidth and performance of the interconnect, enabling faster data transfer between computer components like graphics cards, SSDs, and network interfaces.
The first generation, PCIe 1.0, introduced in 2003, offered a bandwidth of 2.5 GT/s per lane. PCIe
PCIe 4.0, introduced in 2017, brought another substantial leap, doubling the bandwidth per lane to 16 GT/s.
Future generations, such as PCIe 6.0 and PCIe 7.0, are already in development, promising even higher bandwidths
