Ounasjärvi

Ounasjärvi is a lake located in the municipality of Enontekiö in Finnish Lapland. It is one of the largest lakes in Finland by area. The lake's name derives from the Sami word "ounas," which refers to a mountain or a high place, and "järvi," the Finnish word for lake.

The lake is situated in a sparsely populated region known for its vast wilderness and arctic climate. Ounasjärvi is a significant feature of the landscape, surrounded by fells and forests. The waters of the lake are generally clear and cold, typical of northern lakes. Its basin is irregular, with numerous bays and islands.
