Orrnyálkahártyagyulladás, commonly known as rhinitis, refers to the inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the nasal cavity. This inflammation can lead to a variety of symptoms, including nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and itching. The causes of rhinitis are diverse, with allergic rhinitis being one of the most prevalent forms. Allergic rhinitis occurs when the immune system overreacts to airborne allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, or mold. Non-allergic rhinitis, on the other hand, is not triggered by allergens and can be caused by irritants like smoke, strong perfumes, or changes in temperature and humidity. Other contributing factors can include viral infections, leading to the common cold, or certain medications.
