Orientierungsstufen, also known as orientation phases or transitional periods, refer to structured educational programs designed to help students, particularly in secondary education, adapt to new school environments or educational pathways. These stages are commonly found in German-speaking countries, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where they serve as a bridge between primary and secondary education or between different types of schools.

The primary goal of Orientierungsstufen is to provide students with a supportive environment where they can explore their academic strengths, interests, and potential career paths. Typically, these programs last one to two years and are often integrated into the curriculum of comprehensive schools (*Gesamtschulen*) or secondary schools (*Gymnasien*).
