OneRepublic

OneRepublic is an American pop rock band formed in 2002 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The founding lineup centers on Ryan Tedder (lead vocals, piano, primary songwriter) and Zach Filkins (guitar, violin). The group later included Brent Kutzle (bass, cello) and Eddie Fisher (drums), with guitarist Drew Brown becoming part of the recording and touring lineup. The band gained early attention in the Colorado music scene and subsequently signed with Interscope Records, leading to a major label debut.

The band achieved mainstream breakthrough with the 2007 single Apologize, remixed by Timbaland, from their debut album Dreaming Out Loud. The track and album helped establish OneRepublic on the international stage. Subsequent albums include Waking Up (2009) and Native (2013), which yielded several hit singles such as Counting Stars and Love Runs Out. Oh My My followed in 2016, and Human was released in 2021. Counting Stars became one of the group’s biggest worldwide hits, contributing to their sustained presence in the pop-rock landscape. The band has also contributed songs to film soundtracks and collaborated with various artists, with Ryan Tedder serving as a prolific songwriter and producer for others.

Musically, OneRepublic blends pop rock with elements of folk, alternative, and electronic influences. The band is known for Tedder’s melodic hooks and emotive lyrics, as well as a streamlined approach to songwriting that has enabled broad commercial appeal. In addition to studio albums, OneRepublic has continued to release singles and perform live, maintaining a prominent presence in contemporary pop music.
