Omavärinöitä

Omavärinöitä, often translated as "self-excitement" or "autoerotic phenomena," refers to a range of involuntary bodily sensations that can occur during states of relaxation, drowsiness, or sleep onset. These sensations are not indicative of a medical condition and are a normal physiological response.

The most common experience of omavärinöitä is a sudden jolt or feeling of falling, often accompanied by muscle spasms. This is frequently referred to as a hypnic jerk or sleep start. These events are believed to be related to the transition from wakefulness to sleep, where the brain may misinterpret muscle relaxation as falling.
