Olajpalakitermelés

Olajpalakitermelés refers to the extraction of crude oil from oil shale. Oil shale is a sedimentary rock that contains a significant amount of organic matter called kerogen. When oil shale is heated to high temperatures, typically between 450-500 degrees Celsius, the kerogen undergoes a process called pyrolysis, which converts it into synthetic crude oil and gas.

This process can be carried out in situ, meaning the oil shale is heated underground, or ex situ, where the rock is mined and then processed in a surface facility. In situ methods aim to heat the shale formation and then extract the generated oil and gas through wells. Ex situ methods involve mining the oil shale, crushing it, and then heating it in retorts. The resulting oil, often called shale oil, can then be further processed in refineries to produce fuels and other petroleum products.

The economics and environmental impact of olajpalakitermelés are complex and have been the subject of considerable debate. Historically, the cost of extraction has often been higher than conventional oil production, making it less competitive. However, technological advancements and fluctuating oil prices can influence its viability.
