Ocan is a fictional island nation created for worldbuilding and educational exercises. It is described as an archipelago located in a central ocean, consisting of twelve major islands and numerous smaller islets.

The atoll-like geography includes volcanic peaks, fertile lowlands, and mangrove-lined coasts. Climate ranges from tropical to subtropical, with a rainy season and a dry season. The population is estimated at about 2.3 million, with Ocanese as the official language and English widely used in administration and commerce.

Ocan operates as a constitutional republic with a president and a unicameral legislature. Local governments administer the islands, while a central government handles foreign policy and defense. The economy relies on tourism, fishing, light manufacturing, and services, with currency the Ocanese dollar (OC$) and trade partners in regional networks.

Historically, Ocan emerged as a maritime crossroad in ancient and medieval times, gaining formal independence in the early 19th century following a regional treaty. In recent decades it has pursued diversification, investing in ports, renewable energy, and education to expand regional ties.

Culture emphasizes seafood cuisine, music, and craft markets, with annual festivals celebrating marine life and harvests. Notable features include the Blue Ring reefs around the outer islands and Veris, the capital and cultural center.
