Näppylöille

Näppylöille, commonly translated as "pimples" or "spots" in English, refers to small, raised bumps on the skin. These are often associated with acne, a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Näppylöille can appear on various parts of the body, including the face, chest, back, and shoulders.

The formation of näppylöille is primarily influenced by hormonal changes, particularly during puberty. Increased androgen levels can stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, an oily substance. If this sebum, along with dead skin cells, blocks a hair follicle, it can lead to the development of a comedone, which can then become inflamed and appear as a näppylä. Bacteria, specifically Propionibacterium acnes, can also play a role in the inflammation process.

There are different types of näppylöille, ranging from non-inflammatory blackheads and whiteheads to inflammatory papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. While often considered a cosmetic concern, näppylöille can sometimes cause pain, itching, and even scarring if not properly managed. Treatment options vary depending on the severity and type of näppylöille and may include topical or oral medications, as well as lifestyle and skincare adjustments.
