Numberpokazowy is a Polish term referring to a numeric display used to call customers in queue management at service points such as stores, banks, post offices, and clinics. The number shown on the display, a printed ticket, or a mobile notification indicates a customer’s position in the queue or signals that their turn is ready.

Etymology: The term is a compound of numer (number) and pokazowy (display-related, from pokazac meaning to show). It is common in official documentation and in systems designed to organize service order.

Usage: In practice, customers take a numbered ticket and wait until their number is announced or displayed. Service staff call the number to the counter. Modern systems may combine visual displays with audible announcements and may include estimated wait times.

Technology and components: Typical components include a ticket dispenser, a display board, and queue management software. Displays can be LED or LCD; numbers may change color to indicate status (waiting, being served). Some systems integrate mobile apps that push the number to a customer’s device and provide real-time updates.

Terminology: In everyday Polish, people often say numerek or simply numer. “Numer pokazowy” is the formal, written variant used in manuals, signage, or technical configurations, while numerek remains prevalent in spoken language.
