The range of non-ferrous materials is extensive, including common metals like aluminum, copper, lead, zinc, nickel, and tin, as well as more exotic elements like titanium, magnesium, and precious metals such as gold and silver. Alloys, which are mixtures of metals or metals with non-metals, also form a significant part of the non-ferrous category. Examples include brass (copper and zinc), bronze (copper and tin), and stainless steel (which, despite containing iron, is classified differently due to its high chromium content and resistance to corrosion, though it's often discussed in contrast to truly non-ferrous metals). Their diverse properties lead to a vast array of uses, from everyday consumer goods to highly specialized industrial components.
