Nevoistas

Nevoistas are individuals who specialize in nevi, or moles, and related pigmented skin lesions. The term is not widely recognized as a formal medical designation and is mostly used in informal or regional contexts to describe clinicians, researchers, or clinicians-researchers whose work centers on nevi. In standard medical language, professionals who study or treat these lesions are typically dermatologists, dermatopathologists, or pigmentation researchers.

Scope of study and practice commonly attributed to nevoistas includes the development, classification, and behavior of nevi. Common acquired nevi are classified as junctional, compound, or intradermal, while congenital nevi exist as well. Nevoistas may explore genetic and environmental factors that influence nevus formation, such as mutations in melanocytic pathways and sun exposure, and they assess risk factors for malignant transformation, including the presence of dysplastic or atypical nevi.
