Neglelak
Neglelak is a colored coating applied to fingernails or toenails. It is typically a liquid applied with a brush and dries to a hard, protective film. The primary purpose of neglelak is decorative, enhancing the appearance of the nails. It comes in a vast array of colors, finishes, and effects, including matte, glossy, glitter, and metallic. Beyond aesthetics, some neglelak formulations offer benefits such as strengthening the nails or providing a protective barrier against damage. The composition of neglelak usually involves a film-forming agent, plasticizers, solvents, colorants, and pigments. Common film-forming agents include nitrocellulose. Solvents evaporate as the neglelak dries, leaving the solid components behind. The application process typically involves cleaning and shaping the nails, applying a base coat for adhesion and protection, followed by one or more coats of colored neglelak, and finally a top coat to add shine and durability. Neglelak can be removed using nail polish remover, which dissolves the solid components.
