Nedløpsrør

Nedløpsrør, also known as downspouts or leader pipes, are vertical sections of a building's rainware system. Their primary function is to collect rainwater or meltwater from a gutter and direct it safely away from the building's foundation. Without functioning nedløpsrør, water accumulating on the roof could seep into the foundation, leading to structural damage, basement flooding, and mold growth.

These pipes are typically made from materials such as PVC, aluminum, copper, or galvanized steel, chosen for their durability and resistance to corrosion. The size and diameter of a nedløpsrør are determined by the expected volume of water runoff, which is influenced by factors like roof area, local rainfall patterns, and the presence of any vegetation that might contribute to debris.

Nedløpsrør are usually connected to the gutter at the highest point where water collects. They then extend downwards along the exterior wall of the building. At the bottom, they are often fitted with an elbow or an extension piece to ensure the water is discharged a safe distance from the building's foundation. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning out leaves and debris, is essential to prevent blockages and ensure the proper functioning of the entire rainware system. Clogged nedløpsrør can cause water to back up into the gutters, potentially overflowing and causing damage.
