Nebulizers are often used for patients who have difficulty using inhalers, such as infants, young children, or individuals with severe respiratory distress. The treatment typically involves sitting quietly and breathing normally through a mouthpiece or mask connected to the nebulizer device. The duration of treatment varies depending on the medication and dosage, but it usually takes between 5 to 15 minutes. Proper cleaning and maintenance of the nebulizer are crucial to prevent infection and ensure effective treatment.
