Navigeerimisviise refers to the various methods and techniques used to determine one's position and plan a route. These methods can range from traditional approaches to highly sophisticated technological systems. Historically, navigation relied on celestial bodies like the sun and stars, using tools such as astrolabes and sextants. Land-based navigation often involved landmarks, maps, and compasses.

Modern navigation predominantly utilizes electronic systems. The most ubiquitous of these is the Global Positioning System (GPS), which uses a network of satellites to triangulate a receiver's position anywhere on Earth. Other satellite navigation systems exist, such as GLONASS (Russia), Galileo (Europe), and BeiDou (China). These systems offer a high degree of accuracy for both terrestrial and marine applications.

In addition to satellite-based navigation, other methods are employed. Inertial navigation systems (INS) use accelerometers and gyroscopes to track movement and orientation without external signals, often used in conjunction with GPS for increased reliability. Radio navigation systems, such as LORAN, were historically important and are still used in some regions.

The choice of navigation method depends on factors like the environment, required accuracy, available technology, and cost. For instance, in areas with poor satellite reception, such as underwater or within dense urban canyons, alternative or supplementary navigation techniques become crucial. Effective navigation often involves integrating multiple methods to ensure continuous and accurate positioning.
