Nanoindentaatiota

Nanoindentaatiota, known internationally as nanoindentation, is a mechanical testing technique used to characterize the mechanical properties of materials at the nanoscale. It involves pressing a very sharp tip, typically made of diamond, into the surface of a material and measuring the applied force and the resulting indentation depth. By analyzing the load-displacement curve generated during this process, crucial properties such as hardness, Young's modulus, and fracture toughness can be determined.

The technique is non-destructive, meaning it causes minimal damage to the sample, allowing for subsequent analysis of the same area with other microscopy techniques like atomic force microscopy (AFM) or scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
