Nadtwardówkowe

Nadtwardówkowe is a Latin term used in ophthalmology to describe a condition affecting the episclera, which is a thin, transparent layer of connective tissue located between the conjunctiva and the sclera. Inflammation of this tissue is known as episcleritis. Symptoms of nadtwardówkowe can include redness, mild discomfort, and a gritty sensation in the eye. The redness is often localized to a specific area of the white of the eye.

Episcleritis is generally a benign and self-limiting condition, meaning it often resolves on its own without specific treatment. However, it can sometimes be associated with underlying systemic inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. In such cases, identifying and treating the underlying condition is crucial. Diagnosis is typically made through a clinical examination.

Treatment for symptomatic episcleritis may involve artificial tears to alleviate dryness and discomfort, or topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
