Nadelvlies
Nadelvlies, or needle-punched nonwoven, is a nonwoven fabric created by mechanically entangling fibers through repeated penetrations with barbed needles. A web of staple fibers, such as polyester, polypropylene, wool, cotton or blends, is formed by carding or airlay processes and then needled to interlock the fibers. The resulting fabric is usually finished to achieve the desired weight, thickness and stability, sometimes followed by thermobonding or binding with resins for added strength.
Properties of Nadelvlies include good bulk and porosity, making it suitable for insulation and sound absorption.
Common applications span multiple industries. In automotive engineering, Nadelvlies is used for interior components such as
Compared with traditional felts produced by felting wool with heat and moisture, Nadelvlies is a true nonwoven
