NSAIDversioner

NSAIDversioner is a hypothetical open-source framework designed to version and manage data related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It treats NSAID data as a verifiable, versioned dataset, enabling researchers to track changes over time, reproduce analyses, and audit data provenance. The concept aims to provide a structured approach to handling pharmacological information with an emphasis on traceability.

The system proposes a git-like versioning model where commits represent updates to drug records, formulations, indications, adverse events, interactions, and regulatory statuses. It supports semantic versioning, change diffs, and rollback of datasets. A provenance layer is envisioned to record data sources, licenses, and timestamps, while access is delivered through REST APIs and a command-line interface, with role-based permissions and an auditable log.

Data model and sources include entities such as Drug, Formulation, Indication, AdverseEvent, Interaction, and RegulatoryStatus. The framework is designed to ingest data from multiple sources—potentially DrugBank, PubChem, FDA labeling, and pharmacovigilance databases—while storing licensing metadata and data-use constraints. A pluggable harmonization engine would map heterogeneous schemas into a unified model and flag conflicts for user resolution, supporting data quality and reproducibility.

Applications encompass pharmacovigilance, systematic reviews, regulatory submissions, and educational research. By preserving versioned snapshots, researchers could verify results against specific data releases and trace the origin of any record.
