NHRA

The National Hot Rod Association, commonly known as NHRA, is a drag racing sanctioning body. Founded by Wally Parks in 1951, the NHRA is the world's largest sanctioning body of automobile racing. It is headquartered in Glendora, California. The NHRA organizes and promotes professional drag racing events across North America.

NHRA events feature a variety of professional and sportsman racing classes. The top professional categories include Top Fuel Dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle. These classes showcase some of the fastest accelerating vehicles on the planet, reaching speeds well over 300 miles per hour in a quarter-mile run. In addition to professional racing, NHRA also sanctions numerous sportsman categories catering to a wider range of automotive enthusiasts and vehicles.

The NHRA season typically consists of a series of national events held at various dragstrips. Drivers compete for points throughout the season, culminating in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship, a playoff system to determine the season champions in each category. The NHRA plays a significant role in the sport of drag racing, contributing to its growth, safety standards, and popular appeal.
