NAPQImetaboliittia
NAPQImetaboliitti, known scientifically as N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine, is a reactive metabolite of acetaminophen (paracetamol). It is formed in the liver primarily through the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. While acetaminophen is generally considered safe when taken at therapeutic doses, NAPQImetaboliitti plays a crucial role in its toxicity when overdose occurs.
Under normal metabolic conditions, NAPQImetaboliitti is rapidly detoxified by conjugation with glutathione, a naturally occurring antioxidant.
The mechanism of NAPQImetaboliitti-induced hepatotoxicity involves oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. The reactive nature of NAPQImetaboliitti
