Mélynyomókkal

Mélynyomókkal, also known as gravure printing, is an intaglio printing process where the image to be printed is etched into a surface, typically a metal cylinder. The image is created by engraving or etching recessed cells onto the surface of the cylinder. These cells hold the ink. During the printing process, the entire cylinder is inked, and then a doctor blade scrapes off any excess ink from the non-recessed areas, leaving ink only within the etched cells. Paper is then pressed against the inked cylinder, and the ink transfers from the recessed cells to the paper due to capillary action and the pressure applied.

Gravure printing is known for its ability to produce high-quality prints with very fine detail and smooth tonal gradations. It is particularly well-suited for long print runs due to the durability of the engraved cylinders. The depth and size of the cells can be precisely controlled, allowing for a wide range of ink application and thus excellent reproduction of photographs and continuous tone images. This makes it a popular choice for applications such as magazines, catalogs, packaging, and decorative laminates.

The process involves several stages, including cylinder preparation (engraving or etching), ink formulation, printing, and finishing. The inks used are typically solvent-based or water-based and are designed to flow easily into the recessed cells and transfer effectively to the substrate. While the initial setup costs for gravure printing can be high due to the need for specialized cylinders, the cost per impression becomes very low for large quantities, making it economically viable for mass production.
